June 3, 2009 Freeport’s Nautical Mile The Nautical Mile is one of my favorite places to enjoy an afternoon on the water. An odd combination of restaurants and workboats, open-air bars and fish markets, live music and foghorns; it’s a blend of nautical charm and street fair revelry I find hard to resist. You might enjoy it too. Read more about the Nautical Mile here The Long Island BlogThere was a lot of exciting stuff going on in the blog last month: bud break in Long Island’s vineyards, some giant bluefish in the Great South Bay, and a cool tractor for sale on the north fork. Read all about it and see pictures hereMost interesting however, is a new documentary in the works by WLIW21. In the tradition of WLIW21’s award-winning New York the Way it Was series, WLIW21 is getting ready to explore the story of one of Long Island’s most interesting communities – Huntington. And they need your help. If you lived in Huntington Village, Cold Spring Harbor, Huntington Station, Northport, Greenlawn, Dix Hills and Lloyd Neck between 1950 and 1990, please share with us your memories of the places and people that will always remind you of your hometown, Huntington. Submissions (photo’s, movies, etc) are being accepted through June 30th. Here are the detailsUntil next time... |
