The big news around here is Loving-Long-Island.com's new look. I've redesigned the website to look better and be easier to use. The pages are wider and I've added more photographs. Here's an example:

Baby back ribs with collard greens, corn bread, and beans at Smokin' Al's.

I've had BBQ at quite a few places on Long Island and my favorite is still Smokin' Al's in Bay Shore. The food is excellent, the portions are ample, and above all it is consistent.

The ribs and wings I had last week were just as good as the ones I had a year ago when I was here last. And, just as good as the ones I had when the place first opened. When I'm in the mood for BBQ this is where I go--don't even have to think about it.

Long Island Winterfest starts in 3 weeks (Saturday, February 11). The theme this year, as it has been for the past 4 years, is jazz.

JAZZ ON THE VINE returns as the theme of the 2012 Long Island Winterfest for the fifth consecutive year. From February 11 to March 18, 2011, the East End of Long Island will offer 6 great weekends of truly exceptional jazz performances in winery tasting rooms for only $15 per person.

The Long Island Boat Show takes place February 10-12 at the Nassau Coliseum. More info here.
